Stacey Copas became a quadriplegic at age 12 and had to reverse engineer her story from one of feeling like her life was over, to be able to turn it around with positivity and motivated optimism. It’s easy to feel completely defeated by things that happen in life. After all, it’s not a matter of if something goes wrong, it’s when something goes wrong. Being able to move through life’s challenges with resilience, and an ability to overcome adversity will be tremendously helpful on a personal and professional scale. For example, the recent spread of Covid-19 has impacted the entire globe, and businesses around the world are struggling to adapt. Being resilient can be of great assistance in times like this. Copas explores how to be resilient in this expert sales interview, hosted by John Golden.
This expert sales interview explores:
- How to overcome adversity
- Using gratitude to be more resilient
- Taking action towards resiliency
Step One to Overcoming Adversity:
The starting point of overcoming adversity and embracing resilience is taking personal responsibility for a situation. You have to take ownership of the situation that you’re in, because no one is going to swoop in and save you.
The Importance of Gratitude:
Gratitude is one of the most important factors of resiliency. If you don’t have gratitude for where you’re at in the present moment, it can cause a lot of disturbances that make it difficult to be resilient.
The language that we use in any given situation is so important. The way that we talk about a situation is the way that we experience it. Say for example you spent a lot of time putting together a pitch, and then it gets rejected by the client at the very last minute.
