Slogans Can Empower Our Mindset for Growth

Can you count the times you asked yourself, ‘Why am I doing this?’ or ‘Why is this happening to me?’ The number is likely, infinite, and many will take the easy route – they quit.

The better questions is, ‘What can I do to improve the situation, regain enthusiasm, and move forward?’ Our article offers insights on why it’s helpful to embrace slogans to maintain a positive mindset for growth. Otherwise, negativity sets in for us to accomplish little.

Visualize Better Times

Creating imagery and unusual adventures in our minds in a seemingly split minute is an advantage for creative people. Glimpses of future possibilities followed by weighing the pros and cons of each stimulates the motivation to select the one to pursue. The next step is to envision how best to achieve it.

In the opposite corner are the academics who generally have a long-held vision, a concrete list of goals they want to achieve, and numerous resources for learning more.

Sadly, opposite corners generally encourage demeaning remarks, discouragement, and again, the idea of quitting. But what if there is way to skillfully apply all ideas for a comprehensive storage of ideas for the taking?

Apply Famous Slogans to Team Meetings

A common slogan we hear growing up is, ‘All for one and one for all!’ A Google search reveals that the quote is most famously attributed to the characters in Alexandre Dumas’ novel The Three Musketeers. The main characters, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, stand together, supporting each other fully. It suggests the concept, ‘Don’t Exclude Anyone.’

Now imagine collaborators or corporate teams whereby everyone freely provides their ideas opening the floodgates to decipher which idea may work the best to witness improvement in outcomes. Next, imagine how the dynamics may change for the better among staff. Instead of one person ‘leading the team by being the only person with valuable insights,’ everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute their best. The odds are business can grow substantially.

Use Poor Experiences As Learning Moments

We each have a lifetime of memorable poor experiences. By recalling our worst experiences, we can almost feel ‘lucky’ that so many occurred. The visualization of where we are today, critical thinking, and the pursuit of goals brings us to a better place in time whereby we can finally celebrate.

My motto became: ‘Our worst experiences can be our gifts in disguise when we are willing to learn from them.’

For example, upon learning about the history of famous people in varying industries who appear to have enjoyed a highly admirable life, our thoughts quickly change upon realizing the facts. Some stories concerning how they finally earned their status are horrific, making us almost grateful for the comparatively little that we endured. Feeling sorry for oneself never takes the full picture into account.

Test the following theory: when a poor event occurs, be willing to consider whether there is a better road ahead. Now take into consideration all possibilities to realize which one(s) motivate you to create a new plan of action to advance despite all the previous road blocks and pessimistic predictions.

Collaborative Partners Encourage One Another

Many corporate leaders will do their best by realizing that expectations of them are not to know everything but to encourage an inviting atmosphere whereby everyone contributes ideas. When people collaborate, it becomes an open conversation for everyone to express their thoughts, hear alternatives, or add additional ideas to strengthen the original thought—accordingly, the opportunity to advance increases substantially.

Similarly, entrepreneurs willing to collaborate with others stand a far better chance of success and surprise opportunities vs. one who refuses to share what they know. And for those willing to share insights and stories with communities, the possibilities ahead become limitless.

Conclusion: Embrace Slogans to Maintain a Positive Mindset for Growth

The lyrics by Aerosmith come to mind, Dream on, dream on, dream on, Dream until your dream comes true.’ When we are faithful to our mission and pursue it with everything we have, no one can take away our ultimate vision of accomplishment.
