Reflection Reveals What Holds One Back for Business Growth

Weekends typically offer free time for deep reflection to acknowledge where we are today, where we want to be tomorrow, and how our ultimate accomplishment may appear. Everyone is affected by employment, peers, and others with whom we connect.

On the days we feel stopped in our tracks, it is wise to use reflection as our grounding tool. It helps us to understand where an upset might be, the ‘why’ behind it, and how we, the individual, see the fix, as everyone interprets events differently. Our blog offers insights on ‘Reflection reveals what holds one back for business growth’ to help readers advance.

Observation

Upon hearing or seeing the written words of another that catch our attention, it is wise to stop and give them serious consideration momentarily.  For example, the title of a LinkedIn post by Ali Anani, PhD, caught my attention: ‘Fingerprints of Life Journey,’ which prompted our blog.

Ali Anani’s “Fingerprints of Life Journey” highlights the importance of reflecting on the choices that shape our life paths. It advocates steadfastness in personal principles despite external criticism, which aids self-reflection. Success depends on upholding values through business changes and cultivating a unique identity. Community engagement fosters growth and broadens our impact. Ultimately, achieving goals involves proactive reflection and risk-taking in the pursuit of dreams.

Our Thoughts Matter

Most people have a private agenda for accomplishing goals. But by observing others’ behaviors, strategies, and verbiage, we know what to admire and what to dismiss. The most critical element is to commit to our goals, values, and principles, no matter the events surrounding us. When others downplay our effort, it’s wise to examine the critique from multiple angles to determine if there is helpful advice in their words or to ignore them. Success resides in our hands, including commitment.

Negativity Can Stop or Encourage Efforts

Unwelcome words can have a stinging effect and hold many back. It’s best to examine why those particular words were expressed, whether there is value to them, or if it’s due to jealousy. Only until a self-examination is complete can one realize the better path ahead – it may be finding new associates, revising what is in place, and redesigning one’s future vision for the best to come.

The Other 3 P’s: Press replay, Plan, Persevere

Fingerprints in Action

We each carry a unique style that others can identify us by, hence the ‘fingerprints’ of doing business. Therefore, consistency in conveying our values is critical. Although times, technology, and ways of operating a business are changing more quickly than ever, embracing a similar approach to thinking through ideas upfront, gathering input from trusted colleagues, and testing new methods will put one on a more solid footing, increasing the likelihood of success.

Identity Matters

Fingerprints, track records, and unique thinking all contribute to one’s unique identity, known in the business world as one’s ‘personal brand’. Standing out from the crowd with exceptional thought and identity is vital for building a standout business. Fear has no place in the business arena; occasional leaps forward are required to succeed. Accordingly, recognition begins to build.

The Community Spirit

In addition to pursuing individual goals, it is vital to create a robust future vision that incorporates aiding communities at large. By sharing our best openly, we multiply our fingerprints exponentially, earning recognition and the desire to work with us. Serving communities, however, brings about remarkable results for us and others at large.

Conclusion: Reflection Reveals What Holds One Back for Business Growth

Typically, self-doubt and negativity from others will stop one in their tracks. Stopping momentarily to decipher the good, bad, and how to proceed generally works to one’s benefit; however, stopping for good accomplishes nothing. It is always best to reflect on what may be holding us back to take control and advance to achieve what was anointed initially as only ‘a dream’. Disney had it right: ‘Dreams do come true. ‘
