5 Spring Cleaning Tasks for Your Business

Spring is here, and it’s the perfect time to do some intense cleaning up for your business. When you pick things up and get organized, you’ll be on your way to increasing your sales and productivity.

From updating your types of business insurance policies to physically cleaning your property, spring cleaning can encompass every aspect of your company and how it’s run.

#1 – Update Your Insurance Policies

Spring is a great time to reevaluate your insurance policy. If you haven’t updated anything in a few years, you may be surprised by how your needs have changed.

You may need cyber insurance when that wasn’t an issue a few years ago. If you have customer information online or run a lot of your business online, you need cyber insurance to guard against losses associated with a cyber attack.

If you’ve upgraded your property, you may qualify for discounts you aren’t getting because you haven’t updated your insurance policy.

One of the biggest ways you could save money is to compare insurance providers. Just because one company was best a few years ago doesn’t mean things haven’t changed. A different company may fit your needs better today, and you could save hundreds or thousands of dollars a year.

#2 – Physically Clean Your Property

Your business property makes an impression. If customers walk in and things aren’t kept up, you could lose their respect and business.

Hire professionals to do a deep clean. Chances are, your time is better spent running your business than bleaching the corners of your office. So, do what you do best and hire cleaning professionals to do their jobs. Then, ensure you or your cleaning professionals keep up with weekly cleaning schedules.

When you take steps to improve your company’s appearance, you’ll help motivate your team by showing them that the business matters to you.

#3 – Maintain Your Property

In addition to cleaning your property, use spring cleaning as an incentive to maintain it. Touch up the trim outside, replace the worn-out carpet, and complete any other upgrades or updates that are needed.

Look at your decor and evaluate if it’s creating your desired ambiance. Examine the landscaping and make sure it’s tidy and visually appealing.

Have your heating and cooling system professionally maintained, and check your other systems for issues.

#4 – Clean Up Your Website

When was the last time you logged on to your website and checked it out as if you were a customer? If it’s been a while, this spring is the perfect time to do it. Check your events calendar to make sure it’s up to date. Make sure your “about” section reflects your goals. Determine if your site is easy to navigate.

Your customers’ user experiences online matter, and if you clean up your website, you may find that it makes a big difference in customer satisfaction.

#5 – Trim Unnecessary Spending

You should be looking for ways to trim spending throughout the year, but give it renewed focus this springtime. Look for tax deductions, cancel subscriptions that don’t serve your company, and reexamine any outsourcing to see if you could save elsewhere.

Spring cleaning isn’t just about cleaning up your house. It’s a great tradition to start in your business. When you’re organized and tidy, you’ll spend less wasted time and be more productive and protected.
